The Sublime (2017)
When I wrote Sublime in July 2016, I didn't think it would end up on screen almost a year later (16 June 2017). I decided to make a storyboard when I couldn’t stop reading and envisioning the text - a perfect account of my mixed emotions - it is about me.
The character’s decision at the end of this film is a metaphor - in real life, a rebirth, giving myself a chance to see new life - to live and to love. ‘The Sublime’ will always be precious to me. It reminds me of a place - and how far I have come.
In this film, I have tried to narrate what it feels like living in utopia and also, one of the many things that comes with trying to find a safe place in a bittersweet world where there seems to be no hope for emotional recovery.
